Cheap Used Furniture in Abu Dhabi: How to Get the Best Price
Where the stock is, what you should pay, how to get a better price and what to check before you buy. From a Mussafah shop that buys and sells it every day.
See today's stock on WhatsAppCheap used furniture in Abu Dhabi is easy to find once you know three things: where the stock actually is, how to ask for a price, and what to check before you pay. We run a used furniture shop in Mussafah, and we spend most days on both sides of the deal, buying furniture from people moving out and selling it to people moving in. This is what we would tell a friend furnishing a flat on a budget.
Where is the best place to find cheap used furniture in Abu Dhabi?
Mussafah. Most of Abu Dhabi's used furniture shops sit across its M sectors, so you can see sofas, bedroom sets, wardrobes and appliances from hundreds of homes in a single afternoon. Online listings and move-out sales are the other two options, and each suits a different buyer.
Shops in Mussafah buy from apartments and villas all over the city, from Al Reem and Saadiyat to Khalifa City and Al Raha. That is why the range is so wide: a single IKEA wardrobe can sit next to a full solid wood bedroom set that came out of a five-bedroom villa the day before. Our own used furniture shop in Mussafah M37 works the same way, with new stock coming in almost every day.

Here is how the three main options compare when you are watching your budget:
| Mussafah used furniture shops | Online listings and groups | Move-out sales | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Low, and lower again when you buy several pieces | Often the lowest for a single item | Low if the seller is in a hurry |
| Choice | Wide, many homes in one place | Wide, but spread across the city | One household's furniture only |
| Seeing it first | Walk in and check everything | A visit to each seller's home | A visit to the home |
| Delivery | Arranged by the shop, often free on larger orders | You arrange your own truck | You arrange your own truck |
| After you pay | A shop you can go back to | Usually none | Usually none |
If you need one cheap chair and have a car, an online listing is hard to beat. If you are furnishing a whole flat, a shop saves you money once delivery and your time are counted in.
How much cheaper is used furniture than new in Abu Dhabi?
From what we see every week, used furniture in good condition sells for roughly 35% to 70% below what it cost new. A sofa bought for AED 2,000 will usually sell somewhere between AED 600 and AED 1,300, depending on how it has been looked after.
Four things decide where an item lands in that range:
- Brand. Home Centre, Pan Emirates and solid wood pieces hold their value better than unbranded flat-pack.
- Condition. Clean fabric, tight joints and no water marks push the price up. A single stain can take a sofa from the top of the range to the bottom.
- Age. Newer is pricier, but a well-built ten-year-old wardrobe often outlasts a two-year-old cheap one.
- Demand. Corner sofas, complete bedroom sets and front-load washers sell fast and get discounted less. Odd sizes and dark heavy styles sit longer and are easier to negotiate on.
Always compare the full cost, not the sticker. A set that costs a little more but comes with delivery is often cheaper than three bargains collected from three corners of the city.
How do you get the best price on used furniture?
Buy several pieces from one shop and ask for a single price for all of them with delivery included. Shops discount much more on a full room than on one sofa, because one sale and one delivery run is worth more to them than five small ones.
Instead of asking what the sofa costs, then the bed, then the wardrobe, ask this:
"What is your best price for all of these together, delivered to my flat?"
That one question changes the conversation. The seller stops defending the price of each item and starts thinking about the whole order.
A few more things that work:
- Be flexible on colour and brand. If you only want a grey three-seater from IKEA, you pay for being specific. If any good three-seater will do, you have room to bargain.
- Ask what has just come in. Shops would rather sell fresh stock quickly than store it, and new arrivals are where the best pieces are.
- Go back to the same shop. Once a shop knows you, the next deal is quicker and the price talk is shorter.
What should you ask on WhatsApp before visiting a furniture shop?
Ask for recent photos of the exact item, close-ups of any marks, the final price and the delivery charge. Abu Dhabi is a big city, and the drive from Saadiyat or Al Reef to Mussafah is not one you want to make for a sofa that sold yesterday.
Send this list and you will know almost everything before you leave home:
- Photos taken today, not the listing photo.
- Close-ups of the corners, cushions, joints and any scratches or stains.
- Measurements in centimetres, so you can check your doorways and lift.
- For appliances, the brand, the capacity and whether it has been tested.
- The price for everything together and what delivery will cost.
- What happens if something is not right when it arrives.
Keep the chat. It is your written record of what was promised.
What should you check before buying used furniture?
Damp, smells, pests and loose joints. These are the problems that turn a bargain into a waste of money, and most of them do not show in a photo, so check in person for anything upholstered or expensive.
Sofas and chairs
- Lift the cushions and look underneath
- Smell the fabric for a musty odour
- Sit on every seat and listen for creaks
Beds and mattresses
- Check the seams and underside for stains
- Push the frame and see if it wobbles
- Ask how old the mattress is
Wardrobes and wood
- Look for swelling along the bottom edge
- Open every door and drawer
- Check the back panel is intact
Appliances
- Ask whether it was tested and how
- Ask what cover you get after buying
- Note the brand and model plate
If a piece smells of damp or shows signs of insects, walk away, however good the price. Cleaning the outside does not fix what is inside the foam or the board.

At our shop, every fridge, washing machine, dryer and cooker is tested before it goes on the floor and comes with a 7-day check warranty. Beds and wardrobes are put back together by our team, so you see them standing and complete. Whichever shop you buy from, ask what they check and what they cover. A good shop answers straight away.
Is it better to buy used furniture online or from a shop?
Use both. Shortlist on WhatsApp or online, then see the pieces that matter in person before you pay. Photos are good for ruling things out, and a visit is good for ruling things in.
Small, hard items like side tables, shelves and desks are safe to buy from photos. Sofas, mattresses and anything you will sleep or sit on every day are worth the trip.
How do you furnish an apartment in Abu Dhabi on a budget?
Start with the essentials, set one total budget that includes delivery, and buy as much as you can from one place. This is the order we suggest to anyone furnishing a one-bedroom flat:
- List what you need first. Bed and mattress, wardrobe, sofa, a small dining set and a fridge cover most flats on day one. Everything else can wait.
- Measure before you shop. Doorways, the lift, and the wall where the sofa will go.
- Set one number. A total budget including delivery, not a price per item.
- Send your list to a shop on WhatsApp. Ask what they have now and for photos.
- Ask for one price for the lot. Delivered, with any appliance cover confirmed.
- Check the pieces in person. At least the sofa, the bed and the mattress.
- Agree everything in writing. Price, delivery day and what happens if something is wrong.
What mistakes do people make when buying used furniture?
- Buying the cheapest piece without looking closely. A AED 300 sofa that smells of damp costs you AED 300 and a trip to the dump.
- Buying from five places. Five pickups, five deliveries and no bargaining power.
- Not asking about delivery. Ask what it costs, when it comes and whether carrying up the stairs is included.
- Trusting an old photo. Ask for a picture taken today.
- Not measuring. The most common problem we see is a corner sofa that will not fit through the door.
- Not asking what happens after. Agree it before you pay, not after.
Moving out and need to sell your furniture too?
Sell it to a used furniture buyer in one go. Send photos on WhatsApp, get one price for everything, and have it collected and paid for on the spot, instead of spending your last two weeks answering messages from strangers.
This comes up all the time with families moving from a villa to an apartment. The seven-seater sofa and the second dining set simply will not fit. We buy used furniture across Abu Dhabi, from single pieces to full villas, with same-day or next-day collection and payment in cash or by bank transfer.
